Does Ohio Recovery Center Allow Conjugal Visits?
We encourage a supportive spouse or significant other to visit their partner in treatment and get involved in their recovery process, but conjugal visits are not allowed at ORC.
Although we do not allow conjugal visits at ORC, we do offer evidence-based therapy to help our clients and their significant others build and maintain healthy relationships. We also provide other ways for spouses to get involved in their loved one’s recovery.
Relationships often suffer under the weight of untreated addiction. As drugs or alcohol become the primary focus, people may neglect their work or family responsibilities, engage in risky behaviors, lie to conceal symptoms or behaviors, and experience feelings of isolation, guilt, and shame, all of which can lead to misunderstandings and other difficulties in relationships.
People with untreated depression, anxiety disorders, or other mental illnesses also often experience relationship struggles due to their symptoms.
Visits From Loved Ones
A visit from a supportive loved one can go a long way in helping someone recover from addiction or another mental health disorder.
At ORC, your care team will discuss visiting options with you, including from family members or a significant other. These options will always consider your best interests.
Other Opportunities To Provide Support
At Ohio Recovery Center, we also provide our clients with clinician-supported opportunities to discuss issues with a partner, through couples’ therapy. These therapy sessions can take place in person at ORC or virtually.
Depending on your recovery needs and goals, psychoeducation sessions may also be recommended for your partner or family members. In these sessions, loved ones learn about your condition, the recovery process, how to offer support, and how to find support themselves, such as through Al-Anon or another mutual-aid group for loved ones of people facing addiction or mental illness. These sessions are also available remotely.
Supervised phone calls are another option for staying in touch.
