Ohio Recovery Center’s mission is to support and stabilize clients during drug or alcohol withdrawal or a mental health crisis, coordinate a smooth transition into residential care, and offer a healing environment rooted in peer connection and clinical support.

Nestled among stately elm, beech, and ash trees, Ohio Recovery Center in Van Wert offers a getaway from everyday life where you can focus on recovery and healing, supported by medical professionals, clinical specialists, and peers.

Recovery at ORC often begins with inpatient stabilization or medical detox, followed by continued symptom monitoring.

Treatment continues with residential care, providing gender-specific cottage options and a group therapy-based curriculum.

The final step involves meeting with your care team to line up the resources you’ll need to support your recovery after leaving us.
A Closer Look At ORC’s Services
Ohio Recovery Center’s multidisciplinary team is made up of medical and clinical staff including registered nurses, a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and master’s-level therapists. We also offer sports, yoga, and other wellness activities to support your recovery and healing.

Ohio Recovery Center’s forested 55-acre campus, just a two-hours’ drive from Columbus, provides access to today’s top recovery treatments along with well-rounded activities and amenities for a holistic approach to recovery.
The Clinical Building
This modern complex is home to our fully equipped fitness center, dining hall, recreation rooms, and group meeting spaces. All treatment services, besides detox support, are provided here.
Gym & Fitness Center
Residential clients have access to our newly remodeled gym and fitness center for a wellness-oriented approach to recovery. Use the ellipticals and other gym equipment, or attend studio classes like yoga and aerobics.
Recreation Rooms
Pick up a game of pool or ping-pong, pop some popcorn and settle in for movie nights, or make some art in our rec rooms, providing opportunities to connect with peers in recovery or just relax.
Outdoor Spaces
Set on an expansive 55-acre campus, ORC offers multiple outdoor areas and activities for you to explore, including a pond with a gazebo, walking trails, and yard games. During nice weather, group therapy sessions are moved outside.
Cottages
Our C-Starr, E-Starr, Judkins, Mason, and Whittaker cottages, most of which are gender-separate, serve as the primary residences for all clients and feature comfortable, spacious accommodations.

Full-Day Process Groups
Our full-day group therapy curriculum helps you make meaningful connections with peers and build confidence and trust through one of the most effective methods of addiction and mental health treatment.
Medical & Clinical Staff
Registered nurses or other medical staff and clinicians at ORC provide monitoring and evaluation during stabilization and continue to support you as you progress with treatment.
Wellness Activities
For a holistic approach to recovery, we offer wellness and prosocial activities like yoga and meditation, karaoke and game nights, movie viewings, and arts and crafts to help you associate recovery with relaxation, enjoyment, and fun.
Evidence-Based Care
From detox and stabilization to aftercare support, ORC offers trusted, proven-effective treatment options for recovery, including dual diagnosis treatment, trauma-informed care, and more.
