ORC’s Addiction And Mental Health Program For Union Members
The effects of addiction can impact every aspect of a person’s life, including their work. Seeking treatment can be the start of turning things around. Through Ohio Recovery Center’s union members program, you can receive confidential care and support for lasting recovery while keeping your job.
Working people who face substance use disorders may put off seeking treatment because they think it will add to, not lessen, the stress in their lives.
However, untreated drug and alcohol addiction increase the risk of experiencing injuries on or off the job, overdose, and worsening mental health, all of which can have a negative impact on a person’s work, health, and overall well-being.
If you are a working person facing addiction and you belong to a union, Ohio Recovery Center’s union members program can help you get on the path to lasting recovery while keeping your job. Employee assistance programs (EAPs), such as those provided by unions and employers, offer free, confidential help for employees and their family members seeking a variety of services. We are proud to be a partner in offering addiction treatment and dual diagnosis care.
Highlights Of Our Union Members’ Program
Certain professions experience higher rates of addiction than others. For example, the manufacturing industry has been hit particularly hard by the opioid epidemic in recent years. This may be due to the prescribing of prescription painkillers for work-related injuries, which are prevalent among people in manufacturing careers.
If you are a working professional experiencing uncontrollable substance use or other symptoms of a substance use disorder (SUD), the evidence-based medical and clinical care options at Ohio Recovery Center can help you achieve lasting recovery.
Our multidisciplinary team includes an onsite psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, master’s-level clinicians, and other highly qualified staff with experience in all aspects of addiction recovery and mental health treatment.
Assessment And Evaluation
Your care begins with a full assessment and psychiatric evaluation to determine your treatment needs and recovery goals. This includes identifying the severity of your SUD along with symptoms of potential co-occurring mental health disorders, such as depression, and incorporating your personal preferences to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Detox And Stabilization
The first step to recovery for many people facing drug or alcohol addiction is medical detox. With this service at ORC, you receive comfortable accommodations and around-the-clock supervision and support during withdrawal, with medications and other medical care provided as necessary to deal with or avoid difficult or even dangerous withdrawal symptoms. People facing a mental health crisis will receive similarly intensive care until they have stabilized physically and mentally.
Residential Care
Once you have stabilized, you will move into one of the residential cottages on campus, offering gender-separate options and semi-private rooms with en suite bathrooms. Our therapy-focused curriculum gets at the roots of addiction and mental health issues, including unaddressed trauma. Case managers provide assistance with job-related issues, legal issues, or other recovery-related needs during treatment.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
We provide an integrated dual disorder treatment (IDDT) model, offering simultaneous treatment for both addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. This method is proven to be the most effective for lasting recovery from a dual diagnosis.
People are not always aware that they have depression or another co-occurring mental health disorder along with addiction, but dual diagnoses are very common. ORC’s care team is experienced in identifying, diagnosing, and treating co-occurring disorders.
Therapy And Medication-Assisted Treatment
Our master’s-level clinicians provide therapy approaches proven to help people achieve recovery.
Evidence-based therapies at ORC include:
- cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- motivational interviewing (MI)
- group therapy
- family therapy
- family psychoeducation (FPE)
Group therapy includes process groups for anger management, co-occurring disorders, or other issues and concerns clients may share.
Clients facing alcohol or opioid use disorders may be good candidates for medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Your care team will discuss this evidence-based option with you if it will benefit your recovery.
Peer Support Groups
Unlike group therapy sessions, 12-step and other peer support group meetings are not led by a therapist but by peers. These groups typically center around acceptance, shared experiences, and a sense of community for support in recovery. Options available at ORC include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), SMART Recovery, and more.
A Whole-Person Approach
Along with today’s leading science-backed approaches to recovery, we also provide a whole-person approach, or one that focuses on healing the mind, body, and spirit. Clients have access to a wide range of amenities in support of this aim, including hiking trails, a baseball field, a basketball court, a pond and gazebo, and other outdoor options, along with a fully equipped fitness center, yoga classes, group meditation, and nutrition counseling. Recreational activities also include movie nights, game nights, karaoke, cookouts, and more.
Alumni Program And Other Aftercare Support
Before leaving ORC, we encourage clients to become a part of our alumni program, offering ongoing support and fun sober activities to participate in with care team members and peers in recovery. Your care team will also discuss other options for aftercare as you near completion of your treatment plan, such as 12-step meetings in your community, local therapy options, and more, depending on your needs.
