Situated in southwest Ohio between Cincinnati and Dayton, Clinton County is home to the Mental Health Recovery Board Serving Warren & Clinton Counties. The board is one of 50 in Ohio that ensures the residents of the county have help for addiction and mental health disorders.

Substance Abuse Resources In Clinton County, Ohio 

The Mental Health Recovery Board Serving Warren & Clinton Counties (MHRBWCC) plans, funds, oversees, and evaluates the addiction and mental health services in Clinton County.

The board works with providers and members of the community to plan addiction recovery services that are cost-effective and high-quality. They fund these substance abuse treatment options using local levels, federal and state funding, and grants. 

The community also has a “You-Turn” Recovery Docket. It’s a form of drug court that allows defendants the opportunity to avoid incarceration and instead deal with their addiction issues. Defendants receive support from the judge, substance abuse counselors, and members of a docket treatment team.

Ohio Recovery Center

Clinton County Substance Use & Overdose Data

Overdose is an unfortunate consequence of substance abuse and addiction. While Clinton County has seen decreases in the number of overdose deaths, the number is still high for the area.

According to the Clinton County Health District (CCHD) annual report, drug overdoses continued to be one of the leading causes of death in 2021 in Clinton County, with 20 substance use-related deaths.

Meth and fentanyl-laced drugs were involved in almost all of the overdose deaths in 2021. 

In 2019, a total of 18 people died in Clinton County from a drug overdose. Eleven of the 18 died in the second half of the year. In 2020, there were 23 people in Clinton County who died from an overdose, 14 of whom died in the second half.

Heroin, cocaine, meth, and prescription opioids continue to be the most popular drugs used in Clinton County.

Alcohol & Drug Rehab Options In Clinton County, Ohio

There are 10 drug rehab centers within a 25-mile radius of Clinton County. Most of these behavioral health treatment programs are in Hillsboro and Xenia, but some are also located in Loveland and Lebanon.

Local treatment centers offer a variety of drug and alcohol addiction treatment services, including detox, inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Medical Detox

Detox involves cleansing the body of drugs and alcohol. Medical detox involves the same process but also includes taking medication to help reduce the intensity of the withdrawal symptoms that often come when detoxing.

Inpatient Treatment 

Inpatient treatment involves living at an addiction treatment center while being supervised 24/7. It’s typically for those with moderate to severe addiction. While in treatment you may experience behavioral therapy, group therapy, support groups, and case management.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment has you go to treatment sessions during the day and then go home at night. Because of that, you need a strong support system at home.

Outpatient treatment can come in three different programs: standard outpatient, intensive outpatient programs (IOPs), and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs). They offer different levels of care with PHPs offering the most intensive form of treatment.

Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the approved treatment for alcohol or opioid drug addiction. With MAT, your healthcare provider prescribes medications like methadone and buprenorphine that help ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Therapy is also included.
